Savannah Barber
Ministry Assistant with
Child Evangelism Fellowship
of Central Alabama
In 2005, I became a summer volunteer with CEF's Christian Youth in Action program in Central Alabama. After a week of training, I was sent out in the local area to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Jesus Christ. After six intense weeks of ministry, I knew that I never wanted to spend my summer any other way again. The next summer, I was leaving a 5 Day Club ® with the rest of my team when a young boy came running out after me. He asked to speak to me, and that day I was blessed to lead him to Christ. I found out months later that that same boy led fourteen other children to Christ that summer. I knew then that I wanted to work for Child Evangelism Fellowship to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Jesus Christ, discipled in his Word, established in a local church, and to see their lives changed by God’s love.
In 2012, after graduating from college, I pursued a hired position with CEF. After completing training in the Ministry Staffing Program and building a local support team, I was hired by the Central Alabama chapter as a part time administrative assistant. As the ministry grew and flourished, it became evident that more hours were needed to maintain its growth.
In 2017, by God's incredible provision and guidance, I transitioned to a full time position as Ministry Assistant and took on new responsibilities such as Social Media Representative. In addition to my expanded responsibilities, this new position comes with a new, expanded budget. Therefore I am once again working to build a support team that will sustain full time work with the local chapter. The total monthly budget is about $2,300. You can see the "Why Give" page for more information on where I am in this process, as well as how you can take part.
I also currently publish quarterly news updates. These newsletters give a thorough view of what ministry in Central Alabama looks like year round. You can view some of those recent newsletters below. You can also follow our social media to stay connected with what God is doing in our area.
